A medical marijuana company has opened the city's first temporary dispensary location.
Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation, a medical marijuana supplier based in San Antonio, has built a temporary dispensary in the Alamo City, marking the first time such a facility has been established in the city.
The Alamo City dispensary will serve around 170 patients each weekday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dispensary will be open on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Except for individuals who have prescriptions, the corporation does not reveal a physical address.
Prior to the introduction of temporary dispensaries in San Antonio, Houston, Katy, and Plano, TOCC forced customers to either visit the company's Austin headquarters or pay a $25 delivery charge to have the drug delivered to their homes or offices. Know about weed delivery in San Antonio.
"Patients deserve simple, quick access to the life-changing medications that improve their lives — and that includes medical marijuana," said Morris Denton, TOCC's CEO. "Patients need easy, convenient access to the life-changing medicines that enhance their lives."
"[We're] happy to be able to bring our goods so much closer to our patients' homes and to remove obstacles to them and their families being able to get the life-saving treatment they need."
Since the Texas Legislature agreed to extend the state's Compassionate Use Program, the state has only permitted TOCC and two other firms to cultivate and sell medicinal marijuana that has been prescribed to patients. Doctors may now prescribe medicinal cannabis to treat a variety of diseases, including seizure disorders, autism, ALS, and terminal cancer, as a result of the extension.
Dr. Patricia Harkins, a developmental pediatrician in San Antonio, expressed her delight at the establishment of the local dispensary. She started giving marijuana to individuals with autism last autumn in circumstances when other medications were unable to alleviate their anxiety and sleep issues.
"It definitely makes it easier for the patients to have a location that is closer than Austin when they need to fill a prescription," Harkins said. "It certainly makes it easier for the patients to have a location that is closer than Austin when they need to fill a prescription."
