What's an LMIA?

When does LMIA expire?
After a positive LMIA test, the temporary foreign worker must apply for a work visa. The LMIA application and the temporary foreign worker's work visa are distinct.
LMIAs expire. Before this date, CIC or CBSA must receive your work visa application. Any work permit applications submitted after the LMIA expiration date will be denied, and the potential temporary foreign worker cannot work for the business. An expired LMIA can't be used to get a work permit. This requires a new LMIA application and, if approved, a new work permit application.
